Be Honest, You've Been Thinking About Botox® for a While

You've searched "botox in St. Catharines" more than once and you've scrolled through enough before-and-afters that all look vaguely the same or really overdone. And every single time you get close to booking, you think: what if I look frozen?

That fear is exactly why I do this differently.

Botox®, Dysport®, and Nuceiva® are neuromodulators that temporarily relax the muscles that cause lines when you squint, frown, or raise your eyebrows. They minimize forehead lines, crow's feet and the vertical "11s" between your brows.

Injectables aren’t about stopping your face from moving but rather softening the specific lines that bother you. In the end, you’ll still look like you, just a little more like the version of you who slept a full eight hours and always remembers to hydrate.

I carry all three products because they're not interchangeable. They’re a little different in how much they spread, how quickly they kick in, and which areas of the face they work best for. Which one makes sense for your specific goals is a conversation we have together during your consultation. After all, you might walk in thinking you need one when really, the other does a better job for what you’re looking for!

Who Gets Botox® Injections (and When to Start)

You're getting ahead of it. The lines are forming. They're not deep yet, but you see them in photos and you know they're getting worse. Starting now means fewer units, less often, and results that stay subtle because there's less to correct in the first place. This is what preventive Botox actually looks like.

Something changed. The lines got deeper than you expected. Your forehead looks heavy. Photos from your phone don't match how you feel. You're not trying to look 25. You just want to stop looking tired when you're not tired.

You've already been somewhere else and the results were too heavy. Maybe the appointment felt like a factory and you were rushed through or worse - rushed into making a decision on the spot about procedures you didn’t actually want. You're reading this because you want someone who actually listens before picking up a needle.

If you're a guy reading this: Wrinkles are not selective to women only. Men also develop wrinkles as a natural part of the aging process. In fact, men tend to get deeper, more pronounced wrinkles later in life, and typically require higher units due to stronger overall musculature. The good news? Botox® works just as well for women as it does for men. Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me ;)

How Do Botox® Injections Work at Contour Medical?

I look at your face while you talk and make expressions. That part matters more than most providers let on, because where I place the product, how many units I use, and which product I choose all depend on how your specific muscles behave. I'm reading your anatomy, not following a chart.

The treatment itself only takes 15 to 20 minutes. The needles are very fine, and most people describe a quick pinch per injection site. Numbing cream isn't needed for most clients, but it’s available.

Two weeks later, I follow up. Not because it's a nice gesture, but because that's how I catch anything that needs adjusting before you've forgotten about it. I want you genuinely happy with the result, the kind of happy where you can’t stop taking selfies because you can’t believe the difference.

  • The horizontal ones that deepen every time you raise your eyebrows. A few strategic units smooth these out while keeping your natural expression. This is the area where too much product creates that "shiny forehead" look you've seen on reality TV. I specifically dose to avoid that.

  • Those vertical creases between your brows that make you look frustrated even when you're just reading your phone. One of the most satisfying areas to treat. The change is immediate, and nobody can pinpoint why you seem more relaxed.

  • These are the lines that fan out from the corners of your eyes when you smile. Softening them keeps your smile exactly the same, the deep creasing just doesn't show up in every photo anymore.

  • A small amount placed strategically lifts a heavy brow without surgery. It opens up the whole eye area in a way that reads as "rested," not "had work done," and it's the kind of difference you notice on every Zoom call.

  • A few units along the upper lip relax the muscle just enough that the lip rolls slightly outward, showing a bit more of your natural lip line. This isn't filler and there's no added volume. It's a softer, fuller shape using what's already there.

  • These are the creases on the bridge of your nose that show up when you scrunch it. I usually treat them alongside the forehead or frown area so everything looks balanced.

  • If you grind your teeth at night or catch yourself clenching during the day, you already know the tension, the headaches, and the jaw stiffness that come with it. Botox® in the masseter muscle relaxes the clenching pattern and takes the pressure off your jaw joint. Most clients notice relief within a couple of weeks.

This isn't a cosmetic treatment — I use it specifically for bruxism and TMJ-related pain. It's one of the most effective non-surgical options for jaw tension, and results typically last three to four months.

Areas You Can Treat With Botox®

Botox® vs. Dysport® vs. Nuceiva®: Which One Is Right for You?

All three are neuromodulators with the same basic mechanism but different formulations. The differences between them are subtle, but they matter for your result.

Botox®

Botox® is the oldest and most established neurotoxin on the market. It stays precisely where you put it, which makes it best for targeted areas like the marionette lines or the chin, where exact placement matters most.

Dysport®

Dysport® spreads a bit more and kicks in faster, usually within 2 to 3 days instead of the 5 to 7 days typical for Botox®. That spread is actually an advantage for larger areas like the forehead, where you want even coverage.

Nuceiva®

Often referred to as “Newtox”, Nuceiva® is similar to Botox® and is the preferred neuromodulator amongst the two when treating the Glabellar or frown lines. It's worth trying if you've used Botox® or Dysport® before and want to compare.

I carry all three because the right choice depends on the area we're treating, your anatomy, and what you're after. We figure it out together during your consultation.

What to Expect From Your Botox® Appointment

01. Your first visit.

15 to 20 minutes for treatment, plus consultation time to assess your face and build a plan. We don't rush. You’ll leave your appointment knowing exactly what we did and why.

02. Right after.

Go back to work, pick up your kids, run errands, live your life. There is no downtime. Just avoid lying flat for about four hours and skip heavy exercise for the rest of the day.

03. When you'll see results.

The muscles start to relax within 3 to 7 days. Dysport® tends to show up a couple of days sooner. Full results settle in around the two-week mark, which is exactly when I check in with you.

04. How long Botox® lasts.

Three to four months for most people. Duration is influenced by several factors, such as lifestyle, metabolism, environmental factors, and most importantly — your dose. Some muscle movement will return around the 8 to 10 week mark, which is expected. By 12 to 16 weeks, you are back to your baseline and ready for your next treatment. Consistent treatments tend to last longer than sporadic ones, so regular appointments are encouraged to optimize long term results.

05. Ongoing maintenance.

Most clients come in three to four times a year. We find a rhythm that fits your face and your schedule.

Botox® cost depends on how many units you need and that depends on which areas you're treating and how strong your muscles are. There's no single number that applies to everyone but in Canada Botox® can cost anywhere between $8-$15 per unit, with some clinics in larger cities charging significantly more and some high volume discount shops charging a little less.

Prices at Contour Medical are on the low end of that range and I'll give you an exact unit count and cost during your consultation … before anything happens. There are no surprises, no hidden fees, and no pressure to add areas you didn't ask about.

What you're paying for is a licensed Nurse Practitioner who takes the time to address your specific concerns, personally does every injection, follows up at two weeks, and won't recommend products you don't need.

How Much Does Botox® Cost?

Everything I do starts with a conversation, not a sales pitch.

Your face is not the place to bargain hunt. But it's also not the place to overpay for a brand name when what actually matters is the person holding the needle.

Frequently Asked Questions About Botox

  • It depends on the areas you want treated, the strength of your muscles, and the look you're going for. Forehead lines might take 10 to 20 units. The "11s" typically need 15 to 25. Crow's feet run about 10 to 15 per side. I'll give you an exact recommendation during your consultation. No guessing.

  • It's a quick pinch per injection. The needles are very fine, and each one takes a few seconds. Most people don't need numbing cream. If you're nervous, that's completely normal, and I walk everyone through it before we start.

  • Both relax the muscles that cause wrinkles. Dysport tends to kick in a bit faster (2 to 3 days vs. 5 to 7 for Botox) and spreads more, which makes it a good choice for larger areas like the forehead. Botox is more precise and stays exactly where you put it. I recommend whichever fits your anatomy and your goals.

  • That's the entire point. "You look rested" is the goal, not "you got Botox." I start conservative, follow up at two weeks, and adjust if needed. The best result is when someone notices something's different about you and can't figure out what it is.

  • Every three to four months to maintain results. Some clients stretch that to five months as their muscles adapt over time. We find the schedule that works for your face.

  • Botulinum toxin has been used in medical settings for over 30 years. It's one of the most studied cosmetic treatments available. Side effects are rare and typically minor: a small bruise at the injection site, occasional headache. I review your full medical history before any treatment to rule out contraindications.

Why Clients Choose Contour Medical Aesthetics & Wellness for Botox® in St. Catharines

I'm a Nurse Practitioner. That's a different credential than most people injecting Botox® in the Niagara region. I understand facial anatomy, muscle dynamics, drug interactions, and contraindications.

As a Nurse Practitioner, when I look at your face, I'm assessing how your muscles work together, not scanning for injection points on a diagram.

My approach is conservative on purpose. I'd rather you come back in two weeks saying "can we add a little more?" than walk out wondering if you got too much. You can always add, but you can't take it away.

Every consultation and every injection is me, the same practitioner who knows your face, what you responded to last time, and what your goals are. You're not seeing whoever happens to be available that day.

I'm also the person who can manage your hormones, order your bloodwork, and connect the dots between how you feel inside and what's showing up on your face. You're not just getting someone who does Botox®. You're getting a healthcare provider who sees the whole picture, and that's unusual in this industry.

Serving St. Catharines, Thorold, Niagara Falls, Welland, Fonthill, Fort Erie, Port Colborne, Grimsby and the Niagara region.
