The Changes Were So Gradual You Almost Missed Them!

You look at photos from a few years ago and something's different, but you can't quite name it. Your cheeks look flatter. Your jawline softened. Maybe there's a hollow under your eyes that concealer used to cover but doesn't anymore.

You know dermal fillers exist. You've searched for them more than once. But every result looks the same: overfilled lips, puffy cheeks, faces that look more inflated than refreshed. And you think, "that's not what I want."

Good. Because that's not what I do.

Here's what the right filler work actually looks like: someone tells you that you look great, and they genuinely can't figure out why. That's the goal. That's what I'm building toward every time I pick up a syringe.

What Dermal Fillers Actually Do

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected under the skin to restore volume, smooth lines, or enhance facial contours. If Botox® relaxes muscles to soften wrinkles, fillers add structure and volume where it's been lost or where you want more definition. They do completely different jobs.

I primarily use hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm and Restylane, along with biostimulators like Radiesse. Each product behaves differently at different depths and in different areas of the face, and choosing the right one matters more than most clinics let on.

I select the product based on what your skin needs and where we're placing it, not based on what's popular this month.

Are Dermal Fillers Right For You?

You lost volume gradually. Your cheeks look flatter than they used to. Your under-eyes look hollow even after a full night's sleep. Your jawline softened. None of it happened overnight, which is exactly why it took a while to notice. You're not chasing a new look. You want to look rested, like yourself on a good day.

You want more definition. A stronger chin. A more structured jawline. Better proportion between your features. You've done the research and you know what you're after. You just need someone who understands facial balance well enough to deliver it without overdoing it.

You've been told you look tired. And you're not tired. You're just dealing with volume loss that's changing how people read your face. That disconnect between how you feel and what the mirror shows is frustrating. Fillers can close that gap.

If you're a guy reading this: chin and jawline definition are some of the most common filler treatments I do for men.

How I Approach Dermal Fillers Differently

It's common to focus on one area at a time. You notice under-eye hollows, you book under-eye filler. But the face doesn't work in isolation.

That's why I start every filler consultation with a full facial assessment. I look at how your cheeks, chin, jawline, and temples relate to each other. I identify where volume loss or asymmetry is actually creating the problem you see. Sometimes the solution surprises people.

Here's an example that comes up constantly: a client books because she wants her under-eye hollows treated. But when I assess her face, the real issue is midface volume loss. Her cheeks have dropped, and that's pulling the under-eye area down with it. One syringe of cheek filler lifts the whole midface, and suddenly those under-eye hollows look significantly better without ever touching the under-eye directly.

That's the difference between treating a symptom and treating the cause. And it's the difference between results that look natural and results that look "done."

I call this facial balancing. Instead of filling one area in isolation, I build a plan that addresses proportion and harmony across your entire face.

If you skip this step, you risk getting work that looks fine from one angle but off from another. Getting it right means starting with the full picture.

  • Reduce hollowness and dark circles. Dark circles and hollowing under the eyes are one of the most common reasons people start looking into filler. The skin here is thin, and when volume drops underneath it, no amount of concealer or eye cream will fix what you're seeing. Under eye filler restores that lost volume so the area looks smoother, less shadowed, and less tired. This is a delicate area that requires precise placement, which is why I assess whether under eye filler or cheek filler (or both) is the better approach for your anatomy before we start.

  • Restore youthful fullness and lift. This is often the most impactful single filler placement I do. Restoring midface volume can improve under-eye hollows, soften nasolabial folds, and lift your overall facial structure without touching those areas directly. One treatment area, multiple visible improvements.

  • Enhance definition and contour. Adds projection and definition for a more balanced profile. If you've always felt your chin was set back or "weak," chin filler creates structure that changes how your whole face reads from the side. Popular for both women and men.

  • Creates definition and contour along the lower face. This treatment can address early jowling or build a more angular profile. It's one of those changes that's subtle head-on but dramatic in profile photos.

  • Restore lost volume for a balanced look. This is the area most people overlook, and most providers never mention. Temple hollowing makes the upper face look gaunt and drawn. A small amount of filler here restores the smooth contour from forehead to cheekbone, and the result is disproportionately noticeable for how subtle the treatment is.

  • Not a single area but a full-face assessment and multi-area treatment plan. I treat the face as a connected system. Where we place product, how much we use, and which products we choose are all decisions driven by how your features relate to each other. This is where my training as a licensed nurse practitioner matters most.

  • A natural filler made from your own platelet-rich plasma. The PRP is processed into a gel consistency and injected like a traditional filler. If you prefer a biological approach over synthetic products, this is worth discussing. This treatment is best suited for under eyes. Learn more on the PRP Treatments page.

Where Can Dermal Fillers Be Used?

A Quick Note on Dermal Filler Products

I use Juvederm, Restylane, and Radiesse. Each has different properties: density, longevity, how it integrates with your tissue.

I don't default to one brand for everything (nor should you). The product choice depends on the area, the depth of placement, and your specific goals.

What to Expect From Your Filler Appointment

01. Your Consultation.

I assess your facial structure, listen to what's bothering you, and build a plan together. You'll know exactly what I recommend, where I'd place product, and why, before we do anything.

02. During Treatment.

30 to 60 minutes depending on how many areas we're addressing. The products contain lidocaine, so each injection gets more comfortable as we go.

03. Right After.

Some swelling is normal, especially in the lips and under-eyes. Mild bruising is possible. Most people go about their day immediately. I'd skip intense exercise for 24 hours.

04. When You'll See The Real Result.

You'll see a difference right away, but there will be swelling that distorts the final picture. Give it 1 to 2 weeks for swelling to resolve. The true result settles around the 2 to 4 week mark.

05. How Long Fillers Last.

6 to 18 months depending on the product and the area. Lips metabolize filler faster than cheeks, for example. I'll tell you what to expect based on the specific plan we build.

06. Touch-ups.

Available after swelling resolves if we need to fine-tune anything. I'd rather add a little more at a follow-up than overshoot on day one.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dermal Fillers

  • Botox® relaxes muscles to soften wrinkles caused by movement. Fillers add volume and structure to areas where volume has been lost or where you want more definition. They work on completely different problems, and many clients benefit from both. Learn more about Botox® and Dysport® at Contour Medical

  • Results last 6 to 18 months depending on the product and the treatment area. Cheek filler tends to last longer because the area has less movement. Lips metabolize product faster, so lip filler typically needs a refresh sooner. I'll give you a realistic timeline based on your specific plan.

  • That's the entire point. My approach is subtle, proportional, and built around your face, not a trend. The goal is always "you look great" and never "you got filler." (unless that’s your goal) Conservative placement and a full-face perspective are what make the difference.

  • Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm and Restylane can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. But with a consultation-first approach and conservative placement, this is rarely needed. Most clients are happy because we planned it properly before starting.

  • Dermal fillers in the Niagara region typically run $475 to $625 per syringe. Total cost depends on how many syringes your treatment plan calls for. I'll give you the full picture during your consultation.

  • Instead of treating one area in isolation, I assess your whole face and create a plan that addresses proportion and harmony. Sometimes the best result comes from treating an area you didn't expect. For example, cheek filler can improve the appearance of under-eye hollows without ever touching the under-eye area directly.

Why Clients Choose Contour Medical Aesthetics & Wellness for Fillers in St. Catharines

I think in terms of facial balance, not isolated areas. When you sit across from me, I'm not just looking at the spot that bothers you. I'm looking at how your whole face works together. "I'm not just filling a line. I'm looking at how everything connects."

My training as a licensed nurse practitioner means I understand facial anatomy at a level most cosmetic injectors don't. Vascular anatomy, tissue layers, how different products behave at different depths. That knowledge is the difference between a good result and a safe result.

And I'm conservative on purpose. You can always add more. You can't always take it away. I'd rather you come back saying "I love it, can we do a little more?" than walk out worried you got too much.

Every consultation and every injection is me. Not a rotation, not a trainee. The person who assessed your face last time is the same person holding the syringe this time.
